PodLock

is a modular, multifunctional pop-up primarily designed to host podcasts that promote local businesses in the Kalamazoo area. Its core structure consists of a portable setup including a closet, two chairs, a table, and a P.O. box, all of which can be easily transported to the business it aims to support.

The design is adaptable, allowing additional components like pipes and modular attachments to expand the structure. These additions can create extra seating, shelves, or even provide privacy with curtains, making the space customizable for various needs. For instance, the Podlock can host live podcasts where visitors can interact with the business being showcased, pick up packages—similar to an Amazon hub—and engage with the live event.

Its versatility extends to seasonal uses, such as becoming a holiday storytelling archive. In essence, the Podlock is an interactive, community-focused tool designed to support and promote local businesses while serving multiple purposes throughout the year.

PodSpots

is an analytical map that identifies businesses facing financial challenges due to low out-of-town visitor numbers or the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The map pinpoints locations where the "podlocks" will be deployed. These podlocks are strategically placed within walking distance of a central hub, providing support and visibility to struggling businesses while encouraging local engagement and economic recovery.
